Arkansas Press Women is pleased to announce a $25,000 gift from the estate of former APW member Maudine Sanders. The gift is dedicated to education. Below is a statement from Linda Hogg and Beverly Charlton, which was read to conference goers at the APW 2011 fall professional development meeting.
“We both agree that Maudine loved the organization and talked of it often. She enjoyed, actually loved, serving and contributing to the organization. Maudine was a pioneer in several women’s professional groups and none was more dear to her than the Arkansas Women’s Press Association. Her commitment to education and her love of the newspaper put her in a unique position to see the future needs of the organization. With so many needs, the board will have a difficult task in determining the best use for these educational funds but we are certain Maudine would trust and be proud of your actions.”
