As many of you may know, Carol Griffee spent the last weeks of her life as an advocate for hospice in Arkansas. Premier Health and Rehabilitation, where Carol was in hospice, dedicated a courtyard to her on May 18. The courtyard is a serene place where many of the patients go to enjoy the sunshine, check on raised gardens with flowers and vegetables, or watch the two resident rabbits make their rounds.

REMEMBERING CAROL — Stephen Hudgens, administrator of Premier Healthcare and Rehabilitation in North Little Rock, speaks about Carol Griffee and what hospice is at a ceremony dedicating the facility’s courtyard to Carol.

SPEAKING FOR CAROL — David Kern, who helped Carol carry out her final fight for hospice services in Arkansas, speaks at the dedication ceremony.

IN MEMORY — A plaque made for the dedication.

SPJ was also considering naming a scholarship after Carol.
