Raquel Rutledge at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Arkansas Press Women has joined forces with the Society of Professional Journalists student chapter and the Lemke Department of Journalism at the University of Arkansas to host a Women in Media Summit on Oct. 29.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome at 9 a.m. and the keynote address by Raquel Rutledge, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting in 2010.

Rutledge, a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, received the Pulitzer for a series of reports that revealed fraud in Wisconsin’s child-care subsidy program.

A panel of professional journalists, including Rutledge and Arkansas Business Editor Gwen Moritz, also will discuss their work in media, the opportunities they see for future female journalists and the advice they have for new and seasoned professionals.

Lunch will be served, and the day’s program will end at the conclusion of the luncheon.

All activities on Oct. 29 will be on the fifth floor of the Arkansas Union in room 504 and rooms 507 and 508. Registration for the day’s events will be $25 for professionals and $10 for students in high school or college.
