Arkansas Press Women (APW), the state’s professional organization for communicators, is looking for dynamic professionals to join its board of directors and serve in key chair positions.

Several leadership roles are now open, creating an exciting opportunity for members to step up, get involved, and help shape the future of APW.

“These leadership positions are a wonderful way to become more deeply involved with APW,” said APW President Angie Faller. “Arkansas Press Women is such a supportive and inspiring organization. Serving on the board or in a chair position helps you grow as a communicator, connect with other professionals, and build lasting relationships across the state.”

Open board positions include:

·   Vice President – assists the president, helps plan programming, and supports membership initiatives.

·   Secretary – records meeting minutes and maintains organizational records.

·   Treasurer – manages the organization’s budget and financial reporting.

·   At-Large District Director – represents statewide membership without a geographic district.

·   Southwest District Director – represents members in the southwest region of Arkansas.

·   Northwest District Director – represents members in the northwest region of Arkansas.

Committee and project chair positions available include:

·   Scholarship Chair – oversees the annual college scholarship contest.

·   Historian – maintains the history of APW and its members.

·   Public Relations/Webmaster – manages APW’s website and communications.

·   Newsletter Editor – creates and sends out a quarterly newsletter

·   Communicator of Achievement Chair – coordinates the organization’s top award nomination.

·   Professional Contest Co-Director – assists with the annual contest that showcases members’ best work.

·   FOI Director – monitors Freedom of Information issues and advocates for transparency in Arkansas.

APW welcomes journalists, public relations professionals, educators, writers, freelancers, and communicators from all fields to consider serving. Members interested in taking on a leadership role are encouraged to reach out to the board for more details.
