Plans are proceeding for the fall conference in Northwest Arkansas.
Because the event is coinciding with Bikes, Blues and BBQ weekend, hotel rooms are not plentiful.
A block has been reserved for Friday night, Sept. 30, and Saturday night, Oct. 1, but those planning to attend will need to book as soon as possible.
The hotel is Courtyard by Marriott, 1001 McClain Road in Bentonville. The rate is $109 per night. (It’s somewhat higher than it would normally be on a weekend because of the bikes festival.) The good news is that it is somewhat removed from other hotels in Bentonville, so it may be a little quieter.
To make reservations, please call 479-273-3333 and tell them you’re reserving as part of the Arkansas Press Women block of rooms.
Please contact Debbie Miller if you have any questions debbiemiller12@gmail.com.
The conference lineup so far includes:
• A presentation on Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, scheduled to open later this year in Bentonville. It will display some amazing pieces of art including a well-known portrait of George Washington, some Georgia O’Keefe paintings, and “Kindred Spirits” by Asher Durand.
• A presentation by two nonprofit executive directors who are social media and web savvy people. They talk about branding across platforms and the creation of their organizations’ websites with distinct looks and personalities.
• A presentation by two local women who have established their own blog and are making a go of it financially. Their site isnwamotherlode.com.
• A luncheon speech by John Brummett, who will discuss the political landscape and how social media and blogs have changed the work of a columnist.
More details will be provided shortly, but we definitely need people to book hotel rooms now. So if you know you’re coming, please book now.
We Press Women in Northwest Arkansas promise a great conference and a lot of fun.
