APW, an organization for professional and student communicators, will host a fall conference featuring student journalists and a political expert discussing the mid-terms at a gathering Nov. 12 on the University of Central Arkansas campus.

A panel discussion featuring journalism students from UCA’s School of Communication will kick off the conference at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12. David Keith, faculty adviser for the award-winning student newspaper, The Echo, will moderate the discussion. Following the university student program, Claire Hudnell, a student at Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, will share her award-winning video about a student with vision issues. In addition to winning first place in the Arkansas Press Women high school communications contest, Hudnell received first-place honors in the National Federation of Press Women contest. First-place high school winners from the NFPW contest then compete for Best of the Best honors, and Hudnell’s video was the 2022 Award of Achievement winner. The Best of the Best winner receives $250, and his or her high school communications program also receives $250.

Roby Brock, CEO of Talk Business & Politics, will be the luncheon speaker. Brock will discuss the results of the 2022 midterm elections. Talk Business & Politics is a 23-year-old multi-media news organization reporting on business and politics in Arkansas. Under Brock’s direction, content is driven through many channels such as the Talk Business & Politics TV show, which airs Sunday mornings at 9:30 am on KLRT Fox 16 in Little Rock, 9:30 am on KAIT Channel 8 in Jonesboro, and 9:30 am on KFTA Fox 24 in Northwest Arkansas.
